Thiruvannamalai - Arunachala

Our earth is formed by five basic elements namely land, water, fire, air and ether. We called them "Pancha Boothas" and associated them with five sacred places for worshiping Lord Siva. The center of these five elements is fire, which is identified with Thiruvannamalai.
Arunachala is a hill of Fire, so it is also called as Agni malai, Aruna giri, Aruna malai, Annamalai, etc;
Geologists has stated that, this hill is a volcanic rock that has been thrown out during a volcanic eruption millions of years back. Geologist consider this mountain is older than the Himalayas.
